Biography: Bob Vaaler

Robert Vaaler, dba Magnetic Pictures, has been an award winning Director of Photography and Video Producer for national broadcast television, corporate communications, independent film making, and web based/ new media projects in the Twin Cities for 23 years.
His recent experience includes working with such diverse entities as: numerous Fortune 500 companies, advertising agencies, former US Presidents, orchestral composers, Prince, the Department of Justice, major health care providers, large law firms, former Senator Paul Wellstone, and many private, public and non-profit organizations.
He has traveled to Europe, Asia, Central America and throughout the United States to help tell compelling stories for business, public institutions, government, and arts & cultural organizations.

Current and recent corporate clients include: Target Corporation, Mayo Clinic, Medtronic, Ameriprise Financial, 3M, Wells Fargo Bank, North Memorial Hospital, Thrivent Financial, Yale University, Children’s Hospital and Fairview Hospitals.

Mr. Vaaler has the finest in digital state-of-the-art field production equipment, featuring the new Panasonic 3700 VariCam HD camera (plus Beta SP, DVCAM, Digital Betacam, and others), and all supporting location gear – including an extensive lighting package (tungsten & HMI), audio, monitoring, and direct to drive data management.
The production of “Hubert H.Humphrey: The Art of the Possible”, a two hour long documentary with Bill Moyers , directed by Mick Caouette, has recently been broadcast coast to coast on over 95 PBS stations. Production on a new documentary profiling the early years of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall has recently begun. Mr. Vaaler also teaches class segments on documentary film production: “Script to Screen”, at Hamline University in St Paul, MN.
